We have just about finished unpacking our last few boxes and we have gotten our apartment all set up how we like it. In the next week or so I will take pictures of the inside or our apartment and I will post them on here because I know some people have asked to see it. Here's a sweet picture of Bentley hanging out in the new place.
Besides getting unpacked and Patrick having orientation we have gotten a chance to do quite a few fun things around the city. Once a month the Texas Exes get together for a happy hour, and we went and joined them a week or so ago. We are so glad we did because we found a little piece of Texas here in Chicago! The bar is called Stanley's Kitchen & Tap and they had Texas and UT decor inside. Patrick also found his beloved Shiner Bock there! The only problem was that they had a HUGE Lone Star Flag upside down. It was driving me crazy, and before we left I made sure to let the manager know. Hopefully next time we go it will be fixed!
On the June 27th we celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary! We had some friends that told us how good Ditka's Steakhouse was so we decided to go their for our dinner. We had really good steaks and seafood and we sat right next to Coach Mike Ditka! I really feel like a Chicagoan now!
Patrick has a great group in his program at UIC, and one of the second year residents is always putting together fun things for everyone to go out and do. Every Wednesday night at the Shedd Aquarium they have Jazzin at the Shedd. You get to go through all the Shedd Aquarium exhibits, and there are jazz musicians both inside and out. Probably the most incredible thing was its views of Chicago from its terraces. Every Wednesday and Saturday night the Navy Pier puts on a fireworks show and so we got a great view of the city and fireworks that evening.

This past Saturday we went to the Chicago Yacht Club for a graduation dinner for the residents in Patrick's program. We made the mistake of driving to the yacht club instead of just taking public transportation. We paid $30 to park downtown! Ridiculous- but lesson learned. Luckily we live so close that public transportation or a cab will be better options to go downtown than driving. I also learned not to wear stilettos when I'm am potentially having to a walk a mile in them! After the long walk from our expensive parking, we arrived to the yacht club and had a wonderful time. There was a cocktail hour before and we had a great steak dinner. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming to the new residents. I got to know Patrick's co-residents a little better and it's a great group of people!

Patrick is starting his official first week of school and he is on call for the first time today! Luckily when he is on call he just has a pager on him and is allowed to be away from the hospital until he gets paged.
Summertime is an amazing time here in Chicago and there is so much to do. While we think the weather is amazing here, everyone else is having a hard time with the temperature being in the high 90's on some days. Last week there was a day that was 102 degrees and it was the hottest day in 7 years here! Definitely nothing we can't handle! While some days are in the 90's we are also having days in the high 70's and 80's. It's perfect to us!
Quiet weekend ahead for us but we are looking forward to seeing family and friends here in Chi Town this month!
