Is it Spring Yet?

It looks like spring may be arriving in Chicago! We had our first 50 degree day this weekend and it felt amazing! We had two pretty big snowstorms during February, and March has been consistently in the thirties. Hopefully this weekend was a sign that warmer weather will be headed our way! I don't think I can wear boots and heavy coats much longer!

The past several of weeks have been pretty eventful! In February, Patrick's mom came and visited us! It was so nice to have Brenda in town. We made a whole weekend out of eating out and shopping! We went to some amazing restaurants that Patrick and I have been wanting to try and all of them were fantastic. We loved having her here, and seeing her sister and Patrick's Aunt Barbara who took the train in from Michigan to see us. It was such a fun weekend!

We also got a chance to see our first Broadway musical here in Chicago. We went with some friends to see The Book of Mormon. We definitely plan on going to some more musicals while we are living here.

We celebrated Patrick's birthday over St. Patrick's Day weekend. Chicago celebrate's St. Patty's Day in a big way, and we wanted to make sure we made the most of it! On Saturday, the 16th, we went to the St. Patrick's Day parade downtown in Grant Park. It was really neat.  It was cold and snowing a bit, but we are so glad we went. After the parade, we went to the river to see it dyed green. It was awesome! Later that night we celebrated his birthday with some friends. We continued to celebrate on his actual birthday, the 17th, by having lunch at Big Star with friends.

Out for Patrick's Birthday lunch!
Like with Brenda's trip, we have spend a lot of our time exploring some of the amazing restaurants here. Every weekend we will try a couple of new spots together or with friends. I feel as though we should start a blog just about the food that we have here! Our favorite part about our neighborhood is that all the restaurants have these huge outdoor patios for outside dining. Now that the warmer weather is finally coming in, they have been setting all these patios back up again. We can't wait for the nice weather and to enjoy patio dining. It's definitely our favorite and one of the reasons why we love our neighborhood so much!

We also wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter! We enjoyed a wonderful day here in Chicago. We were sad to not be able to be with our families, but we are so blessed by our church and community here. We attended the Easter service at our church and were able to witness some amazing testimonies and baptisms. Afterwards, we met with friends from our church small group and had a potluck Easter lunch. It's been such a blessing to have this group of friends, and to be able to celebrate Christ's resurrection together.

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:  'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Luke 24:6-7
