Our Nephew

We are so happy to welcome the newest member to our family... our nephew, Carter!!! My sister, Alicean, gave birth to a big and beautiful baby boy on Friday, October 19th! Carter Anderson Harwood was born at 7:38 am and weighed 9 lb 7.3 oz.

Due to our work schedules and the crazy costs of flights, we have not been able to meet him in person. We are so sad that we couldn't be there but we are so thankful for the gift of technology! Kevin updated us through text messages the morning of, my parents sent us pictures, and we have been able to Face Time through our phones, ipads, and computers. Here are some screen shots of us getting to chat with our little buddy!

We are so thankful the Lord has blessed our family with this little boy and we love him to pieces already! Here are some pictures that were sent to me of Carter. I apologize for being "one of those" aunts... but not really! We are looking forward to seeing him over Thanksgiving and then again at Christmas!

Probably my favorite!

Fall in Chicago

Fall has arrived in Chicago. I must say that I am pretty obsessed with this season! We are truly experiencing a real fall! The trees and leaves are beautiful and the chilly weather has been nice. It's getting pretty cold in the evenings and nights but I guess we better get use to it!

Teaching my students about fall has been really fun. They can go outside and see and feel exactly what we have been talking about in class. We've gone on nature walks and collected fall leaves. The neighborhood park we walk to every day has been especially beautiful during this season.

Gorgeous day
I'm really enjoying my teaching position here. I have a great co-teacher that I work with and a neat school. There is no playground at our school but like I said, we get to walk to neighborhood parks for our recess time. Luckily, my school is right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo. This zoo is a free zoo in the middle of a huge park in the city next to the lake. We can take our class there any day we want to. We usually go once a week.  It's very neat! I wish I could share all the great pictures I have of my kids but for privacy issues, I can't. But I will share this cute one at the zoo.

This past weekend we went with some friends to a pumpkin patch outside of the city. We found a Groupon for it and thought it'd be pretty fun and something to do. We had so much fun! The pumpkin patch was located at a monastery and high school in Aurora, IL. It seemed like a bigger version of Cistercian (Patrick's high school). They do the pumpkin patch to raise money during the fall. It was much more than a pumpkin patch, though. There were tractor/ hay rides, a petting zoo, corn maze, and more. Check out the pictures... it was tons of fun!

Of course the best thing about fall is football season! Patrick, Bentley, and I have been enjoying watching our Horns play. We are getting very excited about going home to Dallas this weekend for the Texas/OU game! Hook 'em! Can't wait to see friends and family!

Until next time,
