We Have Arrived!

We've officially been living in Chicago for a little over a week now and we are loving it! We have the cutest little apartment and it's located in walking distance to a street with lots of restaurants, bars, salons, and shops. It's exactly what I wanted here in Chicago and Patrick did a great job of picking this place out for us!

Our adventure to Chicago started last Monday the 11th when we embarked on our 15+ hour road trip. A HUGE thanks to our awesome dads for driving with us. Patrick drove the big Penske truck with his dad and my dad and I drove my car up here. Bentley, our Papillon, rode in the back seat of my car and was so good.
Bentley is the BEST dog and a great car rider!
We drove about 10 hours on Monday and stopped in St. Louis
for the night. I had never been to St. Louis so I was very excited about seeing the Arch. We had dinner at a fun little place in downtown with live music. Afterwards we stopped and checked out the Arch and it was huge!

We woke up early Tuesday morning to finish the last part of our trip. We made a couple of stops along the way. First we stopped in Springfield, IL to see Abraham Lincoln's home. I'm so glad we did! It was really neat being able to see his home, and they preserved other homes on his street as well.

After Springfield we stopped at a cemetery in Bloomington, IL to see the grave sites of some ancestors of the Whittington family. Very neat!

We arrived Tuesday and the movers were here by 4:00 pm to move in all of our stuff. They did a great job.

Our Chicago apartment!
We took our dads to Goose Island Brewery for dinner. This was a place Patrick and I had visited back when we were here in March. Wednesday morning we woke up and went to the Doughnut Vault. I read on Yahoo! that they had the best donuts. It was the cutest little place with a line out the door. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to long and they were delicious! We definitely will be going back there!
YUM!
After breakfast we went to the Field Museum and got Chicago style pizza at Giordano's. Unfortunately our dads had to leave Wednesday day evening but we are so thankful they came! We are going to miss our families a lot here!

We've spent the rest of our time here so far unpacking, apartment shopping, exploring our neighborhood, and getting our car registered here. Over the weekend we had my friend Angela and her husband up here visiting. It was nice seeing friends so soon here!

We are really looking forward to our two years in Chicago and are excited about our future here! Check back on this blog every so often and I will try and update everyone what we are up to here in the Windy city!
