In addition to Boston, our hearts are with West, TX. West is one of our favorite small towns in Texas, and we never make a trip to Austin without stopping at the Czech stop for kolaches, cinnamon rolls, and pizza puffs. We're praying for this community, the families, the victims, the first responders, and the medical staff for all that they are having to endure. We are still in shock and saddened by this explosion. May the Lord bless and comfort all those who have been affected by both of these tragedies.
Here it has been a week full of thunderstorms and flooding. Luckily, our area of Chicago hasn't seen much flooding but so many areas and the surrounding suburbs have been affected pretty badly. We did, however, wake up at 3:30 am Wednesday morning with the end of our bed completely soaked. We had a leak in our ceiling. That was definitely not fun to deal with.
But in the midst of this crazy week, we got the chance to go see the Texas Rangers play the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley. It's pretty rare the Rangers play the Cubs at Wrigley so a couple of weeks ago we jumped at the chance to get tickets. It was also an extra special night because they were honoring Jackie Robinson and all the players wearing number 42. We braved the threat of rain and dropping temperatures. We were fortunate that there was not any rain but we couldn't escape the cold weather we've been having this April. There were probably just as many Ranger fans as Cubs. We talked with a couple of people who had made this trip from Texas just to see them play. We had so much fun and even though we were up 4-0 in the ninth, the game got really interesting when the Cubs rallied with 2 runs and had the bases loaded. We are so glad we stuck it out till the end and happy that the Rangers won 4-2! We were definitely proud Texans and Ranger fans that night!
The most exciting news we have is that we are getting to spend next weekend in Texas with our families! We are going to celebrate Patrick's grandmother's birthday! We can't wait!
Love,
